Jacky Lowry
Printmaking is Jacky Lowry’s passion, but until her acquisition of a Mitomel press in 2004, she focused on papermaking, fabric printing and batik. After all, what is batik but printing with wax? Linocuts, photopolymer etching, and specially the collagraph are her favourite printmaking techniques.
Nature is Jacky’s main inspiration. Another strong influence is a love of the colours, forms, patterns and designs of plants. Jacky often use real plants to make collagraph plates. A delight in pattern, contrast and abstraction is explored through fragmentation and collaging of print editions, where the source images are mostly botanical forms.

"...Getting a Mitomel press of my own has enabled my printmaking practice to grow and blossom. Working with such a reliable and beautifully handcrafted press is a joy. And what a wonderful precision tool it is, facilitating the realization of my ideas, the trying out of new things, and a pushing of my techniques.
With my press I have been able to explore and discover my dominant art form – a love of printmaking...."
